Position:  Trojan Academy Secondary Virtual Teacher

 

Purpose: 

TK Trojan Academy teachers are responsible for overseeing student learning and academic progress in a virtual environment, ensuring that students are supported, monitored and successful in their online coursework. This role manages virtual learning opportunities combined with in-person experiences for support and program facilitation. Responsibilities will include supporting students in Trojan Academy in grades 6-12.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate
  • Social Studies/Science endorsements preferred
  • Knowledge of virtual learning at the middle and high school level
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and develop instructional materials that meet the needs of diverse learners.

Job Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Teaching and Learning and building administrator, the TK Trojan Academy Teacher has the following responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small group academic support, coaching and intervention as needed.
  • Facilitate goal-setting, time management, and study skills development.
  • Monitor student progress, pacing, and completion of online coursework.
  • Maintain accurate records to meet district and state guidelines.
  • Participate in IEP/504 meetings and support the implementation of accommodations.
  • Collaborate with the Student Pathways Coordinator and school staff to support Educational Development Plans for students.
  • Maintain open communication with families regarding student progress and needs, and support family engagement.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and district initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
