About the Role

​​Responsible for managing and retaining partnership relationships while identifying, prospecting, and launching new business opportunities to grow the account base and drive student enrollment. Oversees account relationships for assigned territories and verticals, with a focus on increasing first time students. Operates with a high level of independence in a remote environment while consistently following established outreach, engagement and CRM processes. Builds and manages a robust student prospect pipeline through inquiry generating events and partner engagement, with clear accountability for monthly performance in areas such as events, qualified leads, partner reactivations, and new partnership agreements. Supports UMass Global’s mission to empower working adults through flexible, affordable, applied education by collaborating with external organizations to expand access and deepen program awareness and participation.​

TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

Receive ​direction​ from the ​Director of Strategic Partnerships​.

  • ​​Direction – indicates that the incumbent attains specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed. Incumbent typically develops procedures within the limits of established policy guidelines.​

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Outreach and Partner Development:

  • Independently prospect, qualify and establish new partnership agreements with employers, associations, community colleges, and workforce organizations across assigned territories and verticals
  • Reactivate and expand existing and dormant partnerships through strategic outreach and value-driven in-person and virtual engagement
  • Design and implement territory and account-specific growth strategies to maximize market penetration and enrollment outcomes
  • Represent UMass Global as a trusted advisor, aligning education solutions to partner workforce and organizational needs
  • Approximate time allocation: 50% new partner acquisition (hunting) / 50% expansion and development of existing partnerships (farming).
  • Travel to partner sites for B2B and B2C events, including strategic meetings, presentations, and tabling events

Planning and Organization:

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete data for all accounts, opportunities, activities, and pipeline stages
  • Analyze performance data and dashboards in Salesforce and other available reporting tools to assess progress toward targets and adjust outreach strategies accordingly
  • Leverage performance measurement systems to self-monitor progress and adjust tactics proactively
  • Follow documented outreach procedures, engagement workflows, and partnership development processes consistently
  • Establish account, lead generation, and conversion benchmarks, and strategy in conjunction with the Director of Strategic Partnerships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management
  • Demonstrated success in generating new business, achieving performance objectives, and independently managing client relationships
  • Proven record of driving account growth, developing territories, and expanding strategic partnerships (higher education experience not required)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience across multiple industries or verticals
  • Candidates from backgrounds such as corporate sales, technology sales, professional services, healthcare sales or workforce development are encouraged to apply

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • ​​In-depth understanding of B2B sales, business development, and account management practices
  • ​Familiarity with the full partnership lifecycle, from initial outreach through contract execution and ongoing growth
  • ​Knowledge of consultative sales principles, value-based selling, and strategies for engaging executive-level stakeholders
  • ​Working knowledge of Salesforce CRM, including activity tracking, pipeline management, and reporting functions
  • ​Understanding of structured sales processes and performance-driven environments
  • ​Demonstrated success in outbound prospecting and cold outreach to generate new business opportunities
  • ​Proficiency in account planning, relationship management, and partnership expansion
  • ​Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in both virtual and in-person settings
  • ​Effective use of technology tools and platforms for outreach, communication, and virtual presentations
  • ​Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • ​Ability to work independently while adhering to defined processes and deadlines
  • ​Ability to identify and execute growth opportunities within existing accounts
  • ​Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to achieve strategic outcomes
  • ​Ability to demonstrate persistence, resilience, and adaptability in achieving business objectives

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: Proficiency using webinar software programs, Microsoft Office specifically PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams; Salesforce, reporting platforms such as Tableau, various Social Media platforms, project management software, SharePoint, and other self-service software programs.

Remote work from Central or Southern California only. Incumbent must be located in Central or Southern California, preferably not in LA or Orange Counties.

Unless otherwise indicated, work hours are based on Pacific Time (PST). Employees must be available for collaboration during core hours from 10am to 3pm (PST).

The hiring salary range for this position is $72,000 - $89,000 per year. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

All applicants are subject to a background check and criminal history review. Working conditions are normal for an office environment. A valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel is required. This position is subject to a background check including a Motor Vehicle Report. Appropriate auto liability insurance coverage must be maintained. Requires 25% travel, including overnight travel, such as to meetings and conferences.
