Job Description
The STAGES Occupational Therapist (OT) -CONTRACTOR is a state licensed therapist responsible for screening, assessing, and treating students experiencing fine motor, sensory processing or other related problems that affect classroom activities, social interaction, literacy and learning. The Occupational Therapist Contractor will focus on students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program. The Occupational Therapist Contractor may be asked to obtain licensure in multiple states and serve students across multiple schools as well as supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as they provide services to students.This is an Independent Consultant position (1099).

We anticipate the pay rate to be $55.00-$75.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
· Ensure all assigned services are provided as determined by the IEP team by:
o Communicating with parents and teachers to develop a schedule that encourages regular attendance and participation by the student
o Developing progress reports and other state-specific required special education documentation
o Using provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities such as assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text are made available
· Maintain compliance with state, school, and company regulations
· Provides students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory-motor integrative dysfunction
· Administers online occupational therapy assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care, and the activities of daily living.
· Assessing learning environments of students and deciding what adjustments are needed to ensure the student can access a free and appropriate public education (FAPE)
· Writes assessment reports identifying the student’s needs and proposed treatment strategies; writes individual student goals and objectives as part of the IEP; maintains progress records; participates in the IEP meeting.
· Develops occupational therapy treatment plans based on the educational goals for eligible students to improve the student’s functional abilities within the school and naturalistic settings, in collaboration with the IEP team
· Participates in meetings with school staff and families on the appropriate implementation of programs; collaborates and coordinates occupational therapy goals with the educational program
· Maintain files and/or records using specified systems, e.g., progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, reports, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or compliance
· Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress toward Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives
· Document all contact with parents and interventions with students
· Provide rich and engaging educational experiences for students
· Commitment to personalizing learning for all students
· Demonstrate a belief in all students’ ability to succeed and meet high expectations
· Understand that a primary responsibility is to establish and maintain a positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with and responds to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
· Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information
· Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, caregivers, and school staff
· Be available to students, caregivers, and staff during designated work hours
· Work from a professional home office environment, conducive to video and audio needs and a structured schedule
· Must be self-motivated, dependable, creative, and passionate about meeting the needs of students
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise up to 2 Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs)
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 2 years experience in public school environment as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
Certificates and Licenses:
Occupational Therapist licensure in at least one state
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to work independently, with availability during typical school hours of at least 20 hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9 - 5 as defined by the school and time zone
· Experience teaching in an online/virtual environment
· Strong familiarity with assistive technology
· Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
· An ability to support and guide adults as well as students
· Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators
· Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
· Ability to create and deliver staff development
· Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
· MS365 Proficient
· Ability to clear required background check
