About the Role

The Field Placement Coordinator provides comprehensive support to students seeking field placement and/or supplemental supervision for the Master of Social Work Program in the School of Arts and Sciences. Responsibilities include coordinating student placements, implementing procedures and policies for field education, maintaining agency and community partnerships, and providing guidance and logistical support to students, faculty, field agencies, and supervisors. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Field Education, Assistant Field Directors, Faculty Field Liaisons, MSW Program Director, Field Practicum Specialist, Social Work staff, and agency supervisors to ensure the effective placement, supervision, and support of all MSW students.​

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • ​​Field Practicum Coordination & Student Support
  • ​Coordinate field placement process and logistics for students and ensure that applicable students are placed at appropriate field sites that satisfy the Field Program guidelines.
  • ​Provide guidance to students in locating field sites.
  • ​Serve as university representative around field placement inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • ​Respond to field placement questions from students, site supervisors, and agency directors.
  • ​Troubleshoot student placement issues in coordination with field director/ assistant field director, field instructors, field practicum specialist.

Supplemental Supervision

  • Arrange and facilitate weekly Supplemental Supervision session(s) for social work interns whose agency site supervisors do not hold an MSW, in accordance with CSWE supervision standards. Provide direct supplemental supervision during evening hours as needed.
  • Maintain a master list of all students receiving supplemental supervision each term across the entire Field Program.
  • Monitor and assess students' field learning progress, professional development, and readiness for practice.
  • Offer support to students whose placements may not provide sufficient on-site supervision.

Field Agency Identification & Vetting

  • Identify and assess agencies to serve as field placement sites for MSW students.
  • Maintain relationships with field placement agencies and manage placement logistics, contracts and compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Track and maintain data on student intern placements by term in coordination with the Field Director .

Support for Program Accreditation

  • Assist with preparation and organization of materials and data for accreditation reviews.
  • Ensure field education documentation aligns with CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) standards.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

  • Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited MSW program
  • 2 years+ post-master’s experience placing MSW students for field practicum in a university online platform.
  • Experience in placing graduate level students for field practicum in an online college/university platform is highly desired.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: ​​

  • ​Knowledge of academic, social work and field processes in college/university setting online.
  • ​Excellent interpersonal, written and communications skills.
  • ​Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • ​​Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • ​​Able to leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, ChatGPT, Grammarly, or similar) to improve productivity, streamline communication, draft content, summarize information, and support day-to-day administrative tasks
  • ​Ability to exercise independent judgment, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and maintain an elevated level of confidentiality.
  • ​Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and work under pressure.
  • ​Ability to work effectively within a collaborative environment.
  • ​Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the practicum and supplemental supervision needs of field placement/internship students who live in a variety of time zones nationally, internationally and on military bases.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: ​Strong competence in Microsoft Office is expected. Knowledge of SharePoint, Excel, Data Collection/Analysis, and Sonia is preferred.​

Unless otherwise indicated, work hours are based on Pacific Time (PST). Employees must be available for collaboration during core hours from 10am to 3pm (PST).


The hiring range for this position is $21.00 - $23.60 per hour. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working conditions are generally normal for an office environment. Position may be required to work flexible hours given the varied availabilities of field site agency personnel and other stakeholders.
