  •   Asynchronous Virtual positions will be an additional duty to the employee’s existing teaching assignment paid via stipend.  Teachers are paid for each semester-course they teach based on student enrollment. NOTE: appropriate Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification REQUIRED for consideration to teach this class.

    While Parkway School District acts as the fiscal agent and applications are submitted via the Parkway Frontline system, it is important to know that St. Louis Virtual Campus are not Parkway School District positions.  The teacher’s home district will issue the additional duty contract once a candidate is hired. In addition, these positions are additional duty and are separate from the home district teacher responsibilities.  Therefore, the work associated with these positions should not be done solely on the teacher’s home district time.
     
    We are seeking teachers for the following course for the 2025-2026 school year: 
    • Honors Calculus 3 (Year-Long) 
    Reports to: Executive Director of St. Louis Virtual Campus
     
    Compensation Information per Semester           
    Base Pay Per Student Pay Rate (based on number of students enrolled on the first day after the deadline to drop semester courses)
    $800.00 $166.03
     
     
    Course Maximum Numbers
    • Course maximums will be set at 25-27 students/section
    • When/if a course hits 28 students, a second section would be created
    • The teacher would decide whether or not he/she wanted to pick up the additional section
    • If the teacher does not want an additional section, the students will be split evenly across two sections and an additional teacher will be hired
     
    Job Description
    The secondary virtual instructor will deliver and provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for ensuring student learning in academics and/or skills; supervising students in online settings; collaborating with teachers, professional staff and administrators to deliver pre-designed curriculum and coursework; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.  Virtual teachers are expected to be positive promoters of online learning opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.
     
    Essential Functions
    • Utilizes Schoology as the learning management system for St. Louis Virtual Campus virtual courses
    • Administers subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels
    • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and students’ achievements and developing methods for improvement
    • Analyzes performance data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement
    • Assesses student progress towards course standards, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing regular, high-quality feedback to students, parents and administration.
    • Facilitates face-to-face meetings at a mutually agreeable time that does not conflict with in-person or synchronous virtual instruction (and within the parameters of the St. Louis Virtual Campus program)
    • Collaborates with St. Louis Virtual Campus staff and other school personnel and parents for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established objectives.
    • Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective education that addresses individual student learning needs.
    • Facilitates student learning (e.g., creating a learning environment, successfully integrating technology, encouraging learning environment, fosters collaboration) in pre-designed course
    • Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records (e.g., grades, test scores, anecdotal records, etc.) to document student progress in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
    • Monitors students and manages student behavior in the asynchronous online environment for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
    • Participates in a variety of trainings and professional development related to teaching and learning in an online environment
    Experience

    • Experience using a Learning Management System, preferred
    • Experience using instructional technology tools, preferred
    • Advanced skills in Google Docs, preferred
