Role Summary

Primary Focus: Guides authors through the content plan, performing editing to ensure quality and alignment with pedagogical and market goals. This role connects author creativity with educational value and supports delivery timelines and collaboration.

Pre-development through build, ranging from securing and shaping authored content to partnering as needed with producers to resolve issues in build.

Content Type: All components, encompassing chapter, module, or lesson text; images; videos and animations; interactive learning tools; assessments; and supplemental resources.

Key Strengths: Author management, editorial judgment, domain expertise, content shaping, proficiency with AI tools, accessibility, and proactive problem solving for build-ready content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in product planning and represent content development needs; partner with CPMs to source and onboard royalty authors.
  • Manage author communications, schedules, and deliverables; guide authors in creating effective, pedagogically sound content.
  • Analyze author submissions to refine onboarding and editorial support; resolve author issues and escalate as needed.
  • Ensure content aligns with strategy and learning design; coordinate reviews, feedback loops, and apply market feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and edit author submissions, maintain workflow adherence, track progress, and communicate risks to stakeholders.
  • Manages author relationships and hires/manages other content creators, monitors rights and permissions and works with content providers to remediate rights issues and resolves editorial questions during content creation and production as needed. May review text, e-text and covers during production as needed.
  • Manage multiple vendors and subject matter experts, providing feedback as necessary.Adhere to quality standards, consult with accessibility teams, and leverage templates, authoring tools, and AI workflows for efficiency.
  • Moderate to heavy (substantive developmental and line editing) to support learning goals through all elements of the content plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/PG Diplomas/Master’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years publishing experience required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in project management is a plus.
  • Project Management certification, PMP (PMI), or equivalent is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Project management platforms (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet), trackers, dashboards, MS Office suite, Alfresco, SharePoint, Confluence, Agile.
  • Familiar with product plan documents, editorial templates, authoring guidelines, style guides, Smartsheet schedules, budgets, and collaborative tools (including AI workflows) are used.
  • Authoring tools include Word, PDF, and assessment templates.
