Residency Requirements: This position is remote and strongly prefers candidates that reside in Virginia

  • May consider candidates that reside in surrounding states: Washington, DC and Maryland
  • Must be able to attend in person PDs, testing, and other school events

The Related Services Coordinator serves as the contact point for all teachers, staff, and service providers at the school regarding any therapy or related services (RS) provided to students through an Individualized Education Plan or 504 Plan. The Related Services Coordinator is responsible for adhering to federal and state procedures, timelines, and all required reporting regarding the acquisition and provision of these services to students.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Builds sustainable, positive working relationships with a network of student service providers to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness in service alignment
  • Maintains accurate data-input in essential related service systems as daily updates occur from enrollment and/or IEP activities
  • Establishes provider contracts as appropriate and negotiate rates for cost-effective use of school funds
  • Ensures existing contracts are compliant
  • Ensures appropriate placement of all students requiring any form of related services within guidelines for timeframe and provider proximity
  • Ensures appropriate distribution of most current Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, quarterly progress reports, and other information to all appropriate stakeholders
  • Maintains tracking tools for students receiving related services
  • Supports removal of barriers to assure student access to all related service sessions
  • Collaborates with therapists/families when conflicts arise
  • Works with Special Education Case Managers on IEP requirements for related service goals and services
  • Works directly with the Finance Department and Special Education Leadership Team on verification and approval of all related service bills
  • Continuously communicate with assigned professionals to maximize standard school-based protocols and accountability

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no regular supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in business, education or other related field of study AND
  • Two (2) years of experience with business contracting or school-based processes OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must pass all PDE required clearances for school-based employees

Minimum Required Skill Set:

  • Exceptional communication skills—written and verbal
  • Experience developing and implementing task related procedures with teams
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and utilize resources well
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience working with/maintaining a database; Web proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • School-based work experience supporting students with disabilities
  • General knowledge of special education compliance and/or related services
  • Expertise with large-scale data manipulation and analysis
