Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a ‎‎‎‎means to a significant educational ‎‎end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the ‎‎‎‎development of good learning ‎‎conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is ‎‎‎‎possible, provide for individual ‎‎differences, abilities, and interests. ‎

An adjunct professor for the Department of Community Care and Counseling will be responsible for the administration, facilitation, and teaching of classes of approx. 14-25 online students from around the country and international. This job entails daily internet interaction with students.

Adjunct Professors will perform administrative tasks, interact with students through grading and interactive forums, and build relationships while under the supervision of Online Instructional Mentors.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Teaching material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Assisting students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Providing regular and timely feedback to students.
  • Advising students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
  • Motivating students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
  • Maintaining and reporting student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have an Ed.D., Psy. D., or Ph.D. in Counseling/Psychology, Pastoral/Ministry or a related field.
  • Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Must have completed a traditional qualitative or quantitative dissertation.
  • Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University
  • Must demonstrate experience in qualitative or quantitative research methods in the field or discipline
  • Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills required.
  • Creative, innovative, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Canvas, and the Internet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established record of research evidenced by intellectual and professional contributions to the field through peer-reviewed publication and conference presentations.
  • Research mentorship experience and experience teaching research methods using online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas).
  • Must work well with others and be able to work at a pace that will not delay the progress of a dissertation candidate toward timely completion of the doctoral degree.
  • Ability to schedule and manage synchronous sessions within the required course expectations.
