This role is ideal for a cybersecurity-savvy learning professional who can design, develop, and maintain high-quality training programs. The Instructional Systems Designer will create engaging synchronous and asynchronous courses, leveraging the ADDIE process to transform complex cybersecurity concepts into effective learning experiences. This position involves collaborating with technical experts, supporting virtual learning environments (VLE/LMS), and adapting content for online skills training, including cyber ranges. The role requires flexibility to develop a variety of courses, from short seminars to multi-day programs, while ensuring timely delivery, accuracy, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain cybersecurity training programs using ADDIE and other instructional design methodologies.
  • Convert course materials for online delivery, including integration with VLE/LMS platforms and cyber range environments.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and technical teams to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Deliver both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (self-paced) instruction as required.
  • Update existing courses and incorporate emerging cybersecurity technologies, threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Manage multiple courses and lessons at different stages of production, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Prepare instructional materials such as manuals, handouts, multimedia content, and assessments.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Learning and Development, Cybersecurity, IT, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or cybersecurity training.
  • Public Trust clearance.
  • Familiarity with ADDIE instructional design methodology.
  • Understanding of DHS CISA/CDM mission and cybersecurity principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based authoring tools.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility to work remotely with occasional on-site requirements in Arlington, VA.
