JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title: ELEMENTARY TEACHER-VIRTUAL

 

Responsible To: Principal

 

 

Basic Function: Fulfills the requirements of virtual instruction with punctuality, reliability, and responsibility.


Performance Responsibilities:

  •       Report to work location daily unless prior approval to work in a different location.
  •       Be the teacher point of contact for assigned virtual students
  •       Be available during planning and after school via phone, email, Remind 101, etc.
  •       Bridge communication with virtual families and the district - offering at least weekly virtual

conferences/webinars

  •       Keep a log interactions, tutoring, etc. to submit at the end of each nine week (could be face-to-face and one-on-one)
  •       Work with other teachers to support student needs (e.g., special education teachers, RTI teachers, ESS teachers, EL, etc.)
  •       Attend ARC meetings 
  •       Work with administration to prepare students for standardized testing, including logistics of testing sites/locations
  •       Offer tutoring and virtual meetings on a weekly basis and as needed throughout the virtual coursework
  •       Log grades into Infinite Campus
  •       Organize paper packets for virtual students requesting them
  •       Support parents/families and students with basic computer issues, navigating SchoolsPLP and troubleshooting
  •       Respond (within 24 hours) to parent inquiries via phone and/or email during the regular work week
  •       Proactively track student academic progress and attendance and report non-compliance issues to student’s principal
  •       Track and verify that attendance hours are being logged and correlate with number of lessons completed
  •       Alert administrators of any concerns about student progress
  •       Travel to and assist with at least two school outings per semester
  •       Other duties as needed throughout the year

 

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  1. Has prepared lesson plans that are appropriate for classroom/content/grade level assignment.
  1. Exercises proper care of materials and equipment.
  1. Communicates needs of the classroom to the proper personnel.
  1. Arrives for work at the assigned hour and does not leave before the assigned time.
  1. Communicates appropriately and effectively with other staff members, parents, students, and with administration.
  1. Accepts assistance, advice, and guidance from those responsible for supervising his/her performance, and makes a concerted effort toward improving or refining skills.
  1. Shares ideas, plans, materials, and facilities.
  1. Alert to the district’s, school’s, and his/her own goals and priorities and seeks professional learning appropriate to these needs.
  1. Keeps information confidential information that has been obtained in the course of professional service, unless disclosure serves professional purpose or is required by law.
  1. The teacher, in his/her association with others, respects the rights, feelings, and differences among individuals, and communicates directly with the person(s) involved in any situation.
  1. Adheres to professional code of ethics stipulated by the Kentucky Department Professional Board.


Teaching the Lesson - Recognizes  student  differences  in  needs,  abilities,  and  interests  and  imparts instruction so that these differences are met.

 

· Communicates with  the student the objective of the lesson.  

· Communicates with the student the purpose of the learning and makes learning/content revelant.  

· Relates the learning from the lesson being taught to previous learnings and assists students in making connections.  

· Communicates with students are told how they will be accountable for demonstrating proficiency in the learning.

· Demonstrates sound, up-to-date knowledge of the subject matter being taught.

· Checks periodically throughout the lesson for the students’ understanding of the objective.

· Provides practice experiences for the student of the appropriate number and variety to insure mastery of the objective.

· Demonstrates knowledge of reinforcement theory throughout the lesson.

· Each aspect of the lesson gives evidence of the teacher’s attention to maintaining a classroom climate

conducive to learning (Feeling Tone).

· The activities of the lesson demonstrate the teacher’s desire to include the interests of the students in the

classroom.

· Encourages, praises, and/or acknowledges student effort appropriately.

· Manages instruction in such a way that each student demonstrates a measure of success.

· There is evidence that practice is scheduled in such a manner as to guarantee retention of learnings.

· Gives students the opportunity to verbalize the critical attribute(s) of the learning before leaving the lesson.

· Collects data from the lesson that enables him/her to evaluate each student’s performance, and assists in planning tomorrow’s lesson.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

· Approved Certification with State of Kentucky.

 

Terms of Employment:

 

Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.

 

Evaluation:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for Professional
