The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

A Clinical Educator is an experienced educator who acts as a subject matter advisor and guide to a group of WGU teacher candidates prior to, during, and following the Advanced Clinicals experiences. The Clinical Educator plays an important role in helping candidates balance the duties and responsibilities of Advanced Clinicals while learning to navigate and understand the complex world of educational practice. The Clinical Educator guides the candidate through their Advanced Clinicals coursework associated with the Advanced Clinicals experience. The role of the Clinical Educator is one of high quality, comprehensive advisement and support of teacher candidates. Using technology, the Clinical Educator interacts with students in both group and one-on-one settings. The Clinical Educator may also serve as a Clinical Supervisor in their communities providing guidance, support, onsite assistance, assessment, and feedback to a teacher candidate. The Clinical Educator also provides support for district personnel in which their candidate is placed.

Time Expectations:
Full-Time Clinical Educators are expected to work approximately 40 hours per week but on occasion it may very somewhat, depending on needs of the assigned group of learners.

Part-Time Clinical Educators are expected to take approximately 20 hours per week but on occasion it may vary somewhat, depending on the needs of the assigned group of learners. The role is not expected to exceed 29 hours per week.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Acts as a steward for carrying out WGU’s mission and strategic vision. The Clinical Educator must demonstrate a high level of commitment effectively and consistently.
Provides expertise in assigned content area and maintains current knowledge in his/her field.
Fosters personalized student learning through innovative teaching practices.
Responds with urgency to meet student needs and communicates professionally and respectfully with students and all other members of the WGU community.
Offers proactive support and outreach to assigned students.
Uses technology-based teaching and communication platforms to aid students in the development of
competencies.
Collaborates with team members and other professionals within and outside the university to promote a positive, student-obsessed atmosphere.
Participates and/or leads training activities.
Responds with urgency to changing requirements, priorities, and short deadlines.
Consistently exhibits WGU Leadership Principles and Cultural Beliefs.
Follows the guidelines, activities, and pacing for supporting students in the Advanced Clinical courses.
Facilitates group conference calls and webinars for candidates that supports a collegial sharing of ideas and promotes reflective discourse based on the designated topics.
Supports candidate learning during Advanced Clinicals
Provides ongoing guidance/support in the candidates’ development and completion of the required coursework and assessments.
Attends and participates in Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings with peers to learn and collaborate in relation to candidate TPA and/or Cohort Seminar support.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as the positions evolves.
Completes training required by WGU to support teacher candidates while in their Advanced Clinicals placement. Some states may require additional trainings.
Successfully complete a background clearance.
Holds a current teaching license.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Current or previous K-12 Teaching License
Experience with online instruction
Five or more years of classroom teaching experience
Experience in mentoring adult learners
State and/or federal legislative requirements and/or college accreditation requirements may apply to maintain the necessary credentialing for this role

Preferred Qualifications:
K-12 Administrative and/or Coaching experience
Terminal degree in education or related field

Pacific or Mountain Time zone residence

Special Position Requirements {travel requirements, ability to work nights/weekends, etc.}
The position requires evening and some weekend hours.

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed. Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
