Virtual Tutoring Manager (Full-Time)

What We Seek

Our Tutoring Services team is looking for a highly motivated, self-driven individual who is an experienced, creative, and knowledgeable educator with experience teaching mathematics, and/or reading and language arts to students in whole and/or small group instruction, strong knowledge of the current research and practices based for teaching, ability to use data to create customized lesson plans that move students through assigned content for math and/or literacy, and experience managing and/or coaching others (preferably in a teaching setting).

As a Virtual Tutoring Manager, you will oversee the day to day operations of tutoring services for designated accounts. This includes meeting with district and school officials to discuss program set up and implementation.  In this position, you will work closely with the Director of Implementation to set up, monitor and ensure the effective and consistent management of tutoring services provided. 

You will also play a critical role in setting up the implementation of tutoring programs with schools and/or school districts, you are also a mentor for an assigned group of full-time tutor instructors as well as part-time lead tutor instructors and tutors. As a member of Tutoring Services, the Virtual Tutoring Manager, reports to the Director of Implementation work collaboratively with the department and across a number of other customer-facing teams including Professional Learning, Customer Support, Customer Success, and Account Management to best meet the needs of each of our customer partners.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Managing & Leadership

  • Managing part time lead tutor instructors and tutor instructors providing tutoring services, including supporting the hiring, training and on-boarding and ongoing professional learning of team members.
  • Meeting regularly with district and school administrators to discuss program set up, review data, address successes and challenges, and identify next steps.
  • Meeting regularly with lead tutor instructors and tutor instructors, checking in on the progress of tutoring, addressing any questions, concerns, etc.
  • Managing the schedule for lead tutor instructors and tutor instructors, including arranging for substitutes as needed, confirming attendance with the Director of Implementation.
  • Supporting lead tutor instructors and tutor instructors as needed with troubleshooting technical issues and  directing to the appropriate company staff for support.
  • Ensure the delivery of all tutoring hours purchased by customers and maximizing utilization.

Collaboration

  • Creating and sharing reports related to the tutoring program with customers.
  • Partnering with the Director of Implementation to collaborate and communicate about the status of implementation, identify potential risks to program success, and develop plans for resolution.
  • Using collaborative relationships within and across departments to influence program developments, contribute to marketing and overall program success.

Travel

  • Visit district partners, as needed, to maintain strong relationships and ensure satisfaction 

Content Creation/Management

  • Managing/modifying standard syllabi as needed per customer requests

  • Master’s degree (preferred), Bachelor’s degree (required) in education
  • 2 to 6 months of experience as a Carnegie Learning Lead Virtual Tutor Instructor (preferred)
  • 5+ years of classroom teaching experience in Literacy/ELA
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or managing others
  • Experience teaching with Carnegie Learning resources (preferred)
  • Expertise in ELA curriculum development, with a strong familiarity with key literacy programs such as Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham, ensuring the integration of evidence-based strategies to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Understanding of school and district infrastructure including technology environments and management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment maintaining positive attitude in stressful situations
  • Solution-minded and detail-oriented; always looking for ways to improve efficiency, communication and the customer experience
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision in a timely manner
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
