EQPD Virtual Tutor

The role

Are you passionate about making a difference in K-12 students’ lives? Are you looking to secure a position for the 24/25 Academic Year? Join our team as a contracted Academic Tutor with EQPD where you’ll deliver high-dosage tutoring in a virtual setting. As a tutor, you’ll work closely with students, fostering strong connections while supporting their academic success and having a growth mindset. We offer a comprehensive certification program, ongoing development, and a supportive environment to help you excel in your role. 

Deliverables:

  • Deliver high-quality, one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions based on our provided framework
  • Build strong rapport and connections with students to facilitate effective learning
  • Provide support in subjects such as Reading (1st-9th grade), Math (1st-10th grade), and High School Academic Mentorship.
  • Engage in ongoing paid professional learning opportunities
  • Conduct tutoring sessions primarily in a virtual environment, requiring access to a computer and reliable internet connect

Tutoring Cycle:

  • Duration: September 2024 -Beginning of June 2025
  • Hours vary throughout the duration of the contract
  • Rolling tutoring start dates throughout the contract
  • Certification program opens early August 2024

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Completion or currently enrolled in at least 12 college course credits
  • Strong English language skills

Computer and Wifi System Requirements

  • Access to Google Drive, Internet browser software, Email software, Zoom
  • Access to a computer/tablet with a working webcam, microphone, speakers, and reliable internet connection that is necessary for video conferencing (see specific requirements below)

  • Network Requirements
    • Internet speed of at least 5Mb/s download and 3Mb/s upload
    • You can run a speed test by searching “Internet Speed Test” on Google

  • Ability to engage effectively with children
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the often fast-paced and changing school environment
  • Openness to constructive feedback for continuous learning and development 
  • Strong communication skills to build relationships with students, parents, and EQPD Admin
  • Reliability and commitment to meeting with the same student at the same time each week
  • Detail-oriented and able to keep and submit accurate records
  • Willingness to learn our curriculum framework and receive guidance from a tutor coach
  • Strong organizational skills to follow processes accurately and efficiently

Physical Demands

  • Sit at a computer for several hours in a row
  • Ability to look at a computer screen and focus on it for several hours in a row
  • This position works in an environment with moderate noise levels

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting pay is $15.00/hour
  • Flexible schedule with a minimum commitment of 8 hours/week; we cannot guarantee hours
