The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for the management and maintenance of e-resources at UMass Global Library, including the library’s website, discovery service, and various databases. Ensures that library resources meet the needs of the UMass Global community and comply with accessibility standards. Manages interlibrary loan services, coordinates vendor contracts, and oversees dissertation submissions. Provides reference services, develops web content, and supports information literacy instruction. Supervises professional tutors for the online writing and math center.TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

Direction – indicates that the incumbent attains specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed. Incumbent typically develops procedures within the limits of established policy guidelines.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages and maintains e-resources for the UMass Global Library including its website, discovery service, journal lists, databases, Springshare resources, and other library software.
Liaises with faculty to ensure that the library’s resources and technology meets the needs of the UMass Global community and ensures that library resources meet or exceed accessibility standards.
Negotiates contracts and licenses with vendors in coordination with library director
Manages aspects of interlibrary loan and document delivery services.
Manages dissertations software and approval services.
Provides reference and consultative services and occasional live instructional sessions.
Assesses library collections and makes recommendations for resources improvements
Assists in the development of content for the UMass Global library web pages, guides, and tutorials
Runs health checks on library systems and identifies and resolves problems with access to resources.
Supervises professional Online Writing and Math Center Tutors (OWMC Tutors).
Perform other duties, as assigned
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or international equivalent.
2+ years of experience working in library electronic resources, technical services or collection management.
Technical experience with library discovery systems.
1+ year supervisory experience, preferably supervision of writing and math center tutors
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to provide high level service to a diverse population
Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably D2L)
Aptitude for HTML and CSS coding
Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and implementation
Ability to answer a high volume of reference questions from multiple disciplines
Ability to occasionally offer effective live instruction or presentations online
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: Personal computer and proficiency in MS Office Suite, Google Suite, and Outlook. Functional experience with Aleph and/or Alma ILSs and EBSCO Discovery Service or a similar ILS and discovery layer.
